On 6th August 2008 Mort and I flew to Portland, Oregon. We had two flights, stopping at Dallas to change planes. The air stewardess on the long haul flight was rude but luckily the short haul flight stewardesses had a better attitude. On touching down in Dallas we had to re-check in and take a short shuttle to a different terminal. I got to have my first (one of many) American Mc Donalds!
We eventually arrived in Portland at 18:35 local time. and then got on the tri-met (tram) to get to our hotel. We had to get off the tri-met, on a bus and then back on a tri-met due to major road works on the Steel Bridge. After travelling for about 24 hours we arrived at our hotel.
On 7th Aug we went out in search of our breakfast an found a Noah's Bagel cafe and it was delicious. After breakfast we planned on walking to Oregon Zoo, which we did but managed to walk a long way up a steep hill before realising that we had actually gone the wrong way!!!! Argh! So we turned back and after a shorter walk up a different hill we arrived at the Rose Garden.
We bought a refreshing Ice Shave drink and walked to Oregon Zoo train. When we were dropped off by the train at the zoo we visited all the animals. Instead of doing more walking we got on the MAX and went to Pioneer Place to have a Starbucks coffee and hot chocolate - in the heat!!
